J uly 20, 2024 marks the 55th anniversary of humanity’s first steps on another world, the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. Important items include a 168开奖官方开奖网站查询:Lunar Surface Flow﷽n Apollꦕo 11 Checklist Sheet (lot 25) detailing the switch procedures needed after the first and only emergency liftoff drill ever to take place on the moon. Additional lots (28 and 29) include Lunar Surface Flown Lunar Module Checklist Sheets related to the testing of the Rendezvous Radar system (the subject of Buzz Aldrin’s MIT doctoral thesis) – which was key to returning the Lunar Module Eagle to Command Module Columbia to complete the mission and return to Earth – and 168开奖官方开奖网站查询:page꧅s 60-61 of✱ the LM Activation Checklist🦩, which relate to the pressurization of the descent propulsion system – a key step in preparing for the historic landing (lot 30).

  • Apollo 11 Lunar Surface Checklist Sheet SUR-19/20
    This checklist sheet details the position of circuit breakers on the Lunar Module Eagle after Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin and Commander Neil Armstrong completed the first and only emergency liftoff drill ever to take place on the lunar surface. The Apollo 11 crew is the only crew to include an emergency liftoff drill in their mission, making this sheet incredibly rare even among Apollo artifacts used on the lunar surface of the Moon.
  • Apollo 11 Lunar Module Activation Checklist Sheet ACT-56/57
    This page outlines the procedures to test the Rendezvous Radar (RR) on board Lunar Module Eagle. Known at NASA as “Dr. Rendezvous,” Aldrin wrote his Ph.D. thesis at MIT on the rendezvous technique – a process for landing astronauts on the Moon and returning them to Earth. From Aldrin’s personal collection of Apollo 11 artifacts, this sheet relates to a crucial element of the mission that allowed him and Commander Armstrong to return safely to the Command Module.
  • Apollo 11 Lunar Module Activation Checklist Sheet ACT-58/59
    This sheet continues the instructions for the Rendezvous Radar and also details the beginning of the Abort Guidance Subsystem (AGS) calibration process – the backup navigation system that would have become necessary if the Primary Guidance and Navigation System (PGNS) failed. Operating the AGS was one of Aldrin’s main tasks as Lunar Module Pilot.
  • Apollo 11 Lunar Module Activation Checklist Sheet ACT-60/61
    This sheet details three of the final steps taken by Commander Armstrong and Lunar Module Pilot Aldrin before they undocked from the Command Module Columbia and descended to the lunar surface in the Lunar Module Eagle: pressurization and checkout of the Descent Propulsion System and updating the Abort Guidance Subsystem.
  • A Kapton Foil Fragment from Command Module ‘Columbia’
    This piece of Mylar foil served as a layer of thermal protection for the very outer surface of the Command Module Columbia. Flown to the Moon and back, the Kapton foil was exposed to the vacuum of space for approximately 195 hours and traveled over 500,000 miles during the historic Apollo 11 mission.
  • Buzz Aldrin’s US Flag Flown on Apollo 11
    Aldrin carried this small American flag to the Moon as part of his Personal Preference Kit (PPK), a strictly limited group of personal objects each astronaut was allowed to take into space. “This flag symbolizes our great nation,” writes Aldrin in the official provenance letter. “As such, I proudly carried it with me to the Moon.”
  • Buzz Aldrin’s Flown Apollo 11 Crew-Signed DOW Unicover
    The Apollo 11 crew carried 214 commemorative postal covers with them during their mission, each in one of three designs. This cover, bearing the signatures of all three crew members, is the Type-2 design, which dramatizes humankind’s first step on the moon.
  •  Buzz Aldrin's Apollo 11 Signed NASA Manned Spacecraft Center Stamp Club Cover
    The Type-1 cover design depicts the Earth rising over the Apollo 11 crew. This lot has signatures from the mission’s entire flight crew, while lot 36 is signed by Armstrong and Aldrin, the two members who walked on the moon.
